What Are Nature and Forest Therapy Experiences?
Wild Mountain Turtle’s nature therapy experiences are based on the practice of Forest bathing. Also known as Shinrin-yoku in Japan, forest bathing is a practice that involves immersing oneself in a forest or natural environment and mindfully connecting with the surroundings.
It doesn’t involve physical bathing, hiking for miles in the woods, or talking about your feelings. Instead, forest bathing is about absorbing the atmosphere and energy of the outdoors to fully engage your senses and cultivate a deep connection with nature.
During a nature therapy session, you may sit and touch the bark of trees, listen to the rustling of leaves, and breathe in the fresh air. You might journey through the forest, taking in the sights, sounds, and smells. It emphasizes slowing down, being present, and engaging with nature in a calm and contemplative manner.
Numerous studies have highlighted the potential health benefits of time in nature. These include stress reduction, lowered blood pressure, boosted immune system function, improved mood, and increased overall feelings of well-being. It may also enhance creativity, focus, and attention.
Nature therapy offers a way to escape the fast-paced and technology-driven modern world and find solace, relaxation, and rejuvenation in the healing presence of forests.

About your guide
As a Certified Nature and Forest Therapy guide who assists with nature connection, I believe I bring a unique perspective to the field by having a passion for Nature and health science background. In my 10+ years as a pharmacist, I have read multiple studies on the numerous benefits of humans connecting with nature. Growing up in the mountains and plains of Wyoming, I have experienced first hand how strong one’s connection to Nature can be. When I found the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy guide training it felt like home. I look forward to creating a safe space where you can explore your own connection with Nature!
Land Acknowledgement
I want to acknowledge the land we will be experiencing belongs to Abenaki tribes. This land's historical significance as a site of sustenance, community, and exchange among Indigenous peoples since time immemorial is crucial. The Abenaki have and continue to nurture these forests, lands, and waters.
We honor their spiritual and lived connections to this region, while recognizing the hardships they have endured, both past and present. Let us not only acknowledge their history but also actively engage in initiatives that empower Indigenous voices.
